In memory of OCR Elite Runner Gitte Leurs-Helgers (29) who passed away during an obstacle run accident in the Netherlands, June 11th, 2017. We created this Obstacle Race WOD to honor Gitte.
Her accident shocked the entire obstacle community all over Europe. Together with Mike we created the first Obstacle Race workout Gitte. This workout is meant to honor and to not forget Gitte. Our hope is that every year on january 31, the day we created this WOD, obstacle teams all over the world will perform this workout with the most intense effort a person can give.
To remember Gitte we created this Work-out. – Mike Helgers & Team Tough Ground
Gitte Leurs (29), born and raised in Einighausen, was a very experienced elite obstacle runner. Gitte her favorite work-outs were running, body pump and obstacles like the monkey bars. Based on these exercises, workout “Gitte” was created with the help and support of her husband Mike Helgers.

Time cap: 50min
- 2 K run
- 50 pull ups
- 100 walking lunge
- 150 push-ups
- 100 monkey bars
- 50 burpees
- 2 K run
You must complete a full lane monkey bar before resting. Start and finish with a 2K run. RX: Full Gitte / SC: 1/2 Gitte
